  1. Thanks for the informative and wonderful videos.

I am currently taking prerequisites in order to apply to a PA program.
I am 52 yeara young, have a BA, and over twenty years experience in the social work field. I also have direct care experience as a CNEA . I am currently owner of an Adult foster Care facility (ten years).
Am I too old to apply to a PA program ? It will take me another year- one and a half years to complete the prerequisites, because of running the business, I do plan to sell the business once admitted to a PA program.

    Thanks again for the videos.

  2. Delores,

Age ain’t nothin’ but a number!! LOL. NO, you are not too old. When I was in PA school my oldest classmate was 51 years young. Guess what, she did way better than a lot of us younger folk!! :-)

Be encouraged and stay laser focused on your dream.

    Dave

  3. Thanks, for the uplifting comments. I will stay focused on my dream. And thanks to your videos, I’m planning to shadow a PA in my community next year. I hope to mentor and teach after becoming a PA.
Thanks, for choosing to give back.

  4. Good day, Mu name is Nelson and I am writing my narrative essay. I wanted to get your opinion on whether I should include Job security as a motivation towards becoming a P.A.

    THANKS

  5. Hello PA Coach,

I have a question for you. I didn’t perform well in undergrad due to a serious health complication. I went on to get a professional master’s degree in biology, and had a GPA of 3.467 in grad school. I have done extensive volunteer work in a government hospital in India. Recently I got my CNA to get some experience with patients. How do you think I stand in the application process? P;ease let me know, I’m extremely nervous.

  6. Hi Dave, started looking into ways to increase my odds on getting into PA school and came across your information. I love Delore’s comment on believing she was too old. I already have a masters degree and over 6 years of direct patient care experience as a Naval Officer working as a Registered Dietitian. I was rejected this past year by the 3 schools. My GPA is low 3’s, but currently taking courses over again to boost the GPA. Would you say my essays are the limiting factor here in order to gain an interview spot? GRE was less than 1000, but will retake prior to second round of addmissions. Thanks in advance…..Todd (PA)-to be!

  7. @Nelson—Although that is proabably one of your reasons, I wouldn’t highlight that one. You may present yourself as less than sincere.

  8. @Kulsum—That fact that you drastically improved your GPA shows your capacity for learning and doing well. AdComm members take that into consideration. Good luck.

  9. @Todd–You are on the right track to raise both your GPA and your GRE scores. Those may have been the factors that kept you from getting in. As always, you want to write a winning essay and interview VERY well when that time comes. Good luck.

  10. Dave,

I have watched all your videos and have learned many things that will help me in my application. My question today revolves around criminal histories. When I was in college, I had three misdemeanor charges, none were violent or sexual in nature, and the latest one was 5 years ago and I have not had any legal matters since then. Is this something I need to address in my essay, even though in my CASPA application there is a place for this very information, which I have completed and explained what happened? Is “damage control” necessary in my essay, or will the explanation in my application serve to be enough, as I am prepared to explain what happened during my interview? Thanks for your help.
